About Us
We are a group of friends with diverse backgrounds, and from different parts of the world. We seek to help our communities revive the tradition of getting together at break fast time, to share a meal and get to know each other. We believe that with the daily stresses of today’s hectic lifestyle, neighbors all around the world have grown distant from one another. Taking a break from our busy schedule to get to know our neighbors not only makes our communities stronger but it makes our lives more fulfilled and allows us to experience the warmth of a caring community.
The Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him, commanded us to observe the rights of our neighbors; he said, “He does not enter paradise, he whose neighbor is not secure from his harm.” We believe that the first step in observing each other’s rights is getting to know and respect our neighbors and our community at large. Toward this goal, Open Iftar is intended to help our community members, Muslim and non-Muslim, get closer to each other and to meet members from other communities so that we can break down the boundaries that separate us and become a part of each other’s daily lives.
